Tony Benn mug

Anthony Neil Wedgwood 'Tony' Benn (1925-2014)  was a Labour MP between 1950 and 2001 and a Cabinet minister under the Wilson & Callaghan governments. A pivotal figure in British leftwing politics he became a national institution despite being described by the rightwing press as the "most dangerous man in Britain". A darling of the left this quotation typifies his characteristic optimism: "Hope is the fuel of progress and fear is the prison in which you put yourself."
