In this year's Radical Calendar, the theme is 'democracy'. Each month is illustrated by a striking design as follows:
January - Albert Camus, French philosopher, novelist, author, dramatist, journalist and political activist.
February - Tony Benn, Labour MP, socialist and political activist.
March - Susan B Anthony, American social reformer and women's rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement.
April - Franklin D Roosevelt, the 32nd US president and the longest-serving from 1933 until his death in 1945.
May - Nelson Mandela, a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician who served as the first president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
June - Raúl Alfonsín, an Argentine lawyer and statesman who served as President of Argentina from 10 December 1983 to 8 July 1989.
July - US Declaration of Independence, 1776.
August - French Revolution of 1789.
September - Jawaharlal Nehru, an Indian anti-colonial nationalist, secular humanist, social democrat, lawyer and statesman and a principal leader of the Indian nationalist movement in the 1930s and 1940s.
October - Putney Debates of 1647.
November - William Lovett, a British activist and leader of the Chartist political movement.
December - Aristotle, an Ancient Greek philosopher and polymath.
