Even though women’s suffrage across the US only came in 1920, individual states had been granting the franchise for various kinds of election. The Empire State Campaign Committee was a women’s suffrage organization led by Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) bringing together women’s movements from across New York in an effort to win the vote for women in the State in 1915. Their referendum failed, but was eventually passed in 1917. This striking poster was designed by Francis Luis Mora (1874-1940), originally from Uruguay but who grew up in New York. He travelled to Spain and was influenced by the Spanish masters.

Half Panama unbleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
