Fox hunting Oscar Wilde tea towel

This colourful tea towel features a quote by playwright Oscar Wilde from his play A Woman of No Importance. When he wrote it in 1893, fox hunting had been in practice for several hundreds of years but had its detractors – like Wilde – who were concerned about animal cruelty. Although it was banned by the UK government through The Hunting Act which came into force on 18th February, 2005, and a poll in 2017 showed that 85% of participants still supported the ban, illegal fox hunting unfortunately still continues today, and certain ‘unspeakable’ politicians even propose bringing it back.
