This child's apron was inspired by an illustration from a postcard produced by the campaign for women's suffrage in 1910. Designed by Bertha Ryland of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), it shows a drummer girl from the WSPU’s junior band, which marched alongside their women-only main band at demonstrations. This design was also used in the series of campaigning Christmas cards. Popular in both the UK and the US, these cards were produced and sold by various charities, and sent by suffragettes calling for Votes for Women. Drum up some support for Women’s Rights with this gift for a young feminist!
