Our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians

Our new Palestine tea towel is out now, with a donation to Medical Aid for Palestinians with every purchase
Our customers and supporters have been asking us for some time now: when are you going to release a tea towel about Palestine?
We’ve always wanted to do something, but we knew we had to get it right.
So for everyone who’s been patiently waiting, here it is, hot off the press:
With every purchase of our Palestine tea towel, we'll be donating £1 to Medical Aid for Palestinians

Solidarity with the Palestinian struggle goes right to the core of our values at Radical Tea Towel.
Co-founder Bea’s mother
Pat was a radical through and through, and the cause of the Palestinians was something she was always passionate about.
Pat died in 2010 from cancer. But she passed her passion on to us.
In 2018, as part of our annual
Good Causes Giveaway, we donated £521 to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a British charity that offers medical services in the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon.
As well as providing basic health and medical care, they aim to establish permanent medical infrastructure in Palestinian communities by training healthcare practitioners, teaching medical vocational skills and addressing the requirements of particularly vulnerable groups.
Medical Aid for Palestinians was one of the charities that Pat used to support. And with the help of our customers, we’re determined to continue that support.
For every purchase of our new Palestine tea towel, we’ll be donating £1 to MAP to support their vital work in the Palestinian territories, where the right to health is consistently undermined by conflict, occupation and displacement.
We hope that this tea towel inspires discussion and encourages people to vocalise their support for the Palestinian cause.
That, after all, is what RTT is all about: wearing your values on your sleeve, and not being afraid to shout about them.
“But we know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”
The quote on our tea towel from Nelson Mandela comes from a speech he made during the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in 1997.
Mandela knew about injustice. And like Martin Luther King Jnr., he knew that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
That’s why he refused to ignore the Israeli military occupation of Palestine and the apartheid regime practiced by Israel in the occupied territories.
In the Nakba of 1948, 78% of Palestine was declared as Israel and over 500 Palestinian villages were destroyed.
An estimated 700,000 Palestinians – approximately 85% of the population – were expelled from their homes. And the UN estimates that there are now more than 5.6 million Palestinian refugees around the world, many of whom live in UNRWA refugee camps.
We stand with Palestine against the aggression of the Israeli state, the apartheid system in the occupied territories, and the illegal settlement of Palestinian land.
The only solution is a peaceful solution which supports the human rights of all people, regardless of faith and background.
Because no one is free until all of us are free.
