October - Junko Tabei, a Japanese mountaineer, author, and teacher; the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

November - Madeleine Riffaud, a French Resistance fighter, poet, journalist and war correspondent.

December - Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, an English physician and suffragist. She is known for being the first woman to qualify in Britain as a physician and surgeon.
