Maggie Thatcher, The Tea Towel Lady
Posted by Luke on 1st Apr 2018
There comes a time in every tea towel company's life when it has to decide what it stands for.
The truth is that, despite the range of radical designs we've produced over the years, there's always been one famous woman we've left out.
Some might say she was 'too controversial', 'not really a feminist', or 'actually quite right-wing'.
But we feel these are minor quibbles about someone who was really a bit of a trailblazer.
Behold, the long overdue Margaret Thatcher tea towel:
Today we've decided it's not really fair to exclude someone from our design collection just because they may have said one or two right-wing things.
After all, as people love to point out on Facebook, none of the characters we've portrayed have unblemished histories.

All right, so Thatcher may have quashed workers' rights, bashed the poor, attacked the public sector and held back social equality.
But hey, nobody's perfect.
I feel like our designer, Tim, has really captured the gravitas of the 'Iron Lady' in this image.
Actually, forget 'Iron Lady'. Say hello to the new 'Tea Towel Lady'.
Surely she would have delighted in being immortalised as a Radical Tea Towel.
We'll be submitting this one for display at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea.
