On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the Moon during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission.
As he stepped off the lunar module Eagle, he famously declared, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."
The moment, broadcast live to millions, marked a historic achievement in space exploration. Armstrong's first steps on the Moon’s surface symbolised the triumph of human ingenuity and determination. He spent about two and a half hours outside the spacecraft, collecting samples and conducting experiments, paving the way for future exploration beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
