The veteran left-wing MP and former Cabinet Minister Tony Benn (1925-2014), famously announced in 1999 that he was standing down as an MP because he wanted "to spend more time in politics". The words on this tea towel are from his final speech to the House of Commons: “If you meet a powerful person ask them five questions: What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?”
The image reproduced here is from Monet's series of paintings of the Houses of Parliament from the early 1900s.
